Below is a list of critical accomplishments women's funds have reached in the past three decades:
- Major Investment in Women – Today women’s funds jointly invest over $50 million per year and have working assets of more than $450 million. We’re poised for exponential growth and aim to have collective working assets of $1.5 billion by 2018.
- Uncovering and Spotlighting Vital Issues – Women’s funds are at the forefront of identifying and challenging critical issues from human trafficking to domestic violence. Issues that were unrecognized and un-named came to the foreground because women’s funds championed them and invested in research and solutions.
- Measurable Change – from securing women’s property rights in Tanzania to creating family-sustaining jobs for low-wage workers in the US, women’s funds are investing in projects that will create lasting change for women and communities for generations to come.
- Boosting donations – Together, we’re raising the bar on investment in women. For example, our recently launched Women Moving Millions initiative [link to website] in partnership with a visionary group of donors, promises to generate $150 million in million dollar plus gifts by 2009. We’re also encouraging mainstream to focus on women and girls – in 1985, 3% of mainstream philanthropic dollars went to women, today that investment has doubled.
- Supporting and Empowering our Membership – The Women’s Funding Network has developed cutting edge tools to develop member women’s funds, measure impact and propel success. We are global experts on how to equip and fuel movements through skill-building, shared vision and collective action.
