Mad Imports

Mad Imports is a socially responsible company that offers handmade accessories created by the inhabitants of the unique island of Madagascar. Working directly with their weaver partners, they develop eclectic products that blend traditional and contemporary design ideas using renewable raw materials in innovative ways. Sales support their children's education fund, weaver's workshops and other community development initiatives. Mad Imports is a member of the Fair Trade Federation.


One World Projects

Founded in 1993, One World Projects is perhaps the largest distributor and importer of rain forest products in terms of the types of products and number of producer groups we support. Our primary mission is to develop markets for products made from renewable forest resources which can be harvested in a sustainable manner without damage to the forest ecosystem, while providing rain forest inhabitants with a just means of economic subsistence. One World Projects has partnered with EDI Imports, a socially responsible fair trade importer, to promote products made in East Africa, including soapstone carvings from Kenya. One World Products is a member of the Crafts Center and abides by the guidelines of Fair Trade.


World-Shoppe

Purchasing an item from World-Shoppe.com not only helps provide income, dignity and hope to people in developing regions, but it also helps sustain the communities by promoting community development, healthcare and childcare, education and literacy training. World-Shoppe.com is committed to using its knowledge, creativity and purchasing power to directly benefit artists and artisans throughout the world. Fair trade enables people to make their own choices and helps them develop the skills to make those choices. World-Shoppe is a member of the Fair Trade Federation.


Novica

In association with National Geographic, Novica today serves as an online arts agent for more than 1,700 artists in countries around the world. Visitors to the Novica Web site can read about the artists, explore their cultures, view photographs of their work and select from more than 8,500 handcrafted works. Novica arts and technology teams, located in El Salvador, Brazil, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Morocco, Peru, Thailand, Venezuela and Zimbabwe, interview each artist, photograph their artwork, post the interviews and photographs online, and handle all packing and shipping on behalf of the artist. International couriers deliver the artwork directly to customers, eliminating additional shipping costs, which are transferred instead to the creator and customer alike


Global Exchange

Global Exchange is an international human rights organization dedicated to promoting environmental, political and social justice. Global Exchange Fair Trade Stores feature products from around the world, with fair prices for consumers - and fair prices paid to producers. All of Gobal Exchanges Fair Trade Stores set an example of working responsibly with world craft producers.





Baskets of Africa

This socially responsible company seeks to preserve African culture by promoting unique weaving traditions around the region. In particular, they seek to support indigenous people to become financially independent by maintaining traditional craft skills. In Swaziland, they focus primarily on women’s economic empowerment through weaving initiatives. Baskets of Africa is a member of the Fair Trade Association.


Kusikuy, Inc.

Kusikuy, meaning “make yourself happy” in Quechua, an indigenous language spoken in the Andes, is a fair trade company that works in Bolivian communities in the Andes mountains. Kusikuy is known for its quality clothing, produced from local organic materials for export. The company has recently launched AYLLU, Inc. a non profit organization created to help grassroots development in Bolivia and educate consumers about the benefits of using Fair Trade and organic products. Kusikuy is a member of Fair Trade Federation and Organic Trade Association.


The Amber Chand Collection

The Amber Chand Collection inaugurates its signature collection of high quality, handmade gifts created by talented artisans who live in regions of conflict and post conflict around the world with the Jerusalem Candle of Hope. The Collection will primarily focus on the work of talented women artisans and support women’s enterprises as the foundation for healthy and peaceful communities. Women’s hands: A Force for Peace highlights a commitment to peacebuilding initiatives offering craft as its symbolic and powerful expression.


World of Good

World of Good brings handcrafts from cooperatives and non profit organizations in developing countries to the U.S. market with the explicit aim of promoting fair trade and reinvesting the profits to better the communities from which the products are sourced. World of Good is a member of the Fair Trade Federation.


Mayaworks

Mayaworks focuses on women’s enterprises in Guatemala. It is committed to the economic development of women who otherwise have limited access to participate or contribute to the economic stability of their families. Giving women an opportunity to earn an income from their abundant skills offers them confidence, hope and dignity. Mayaworks is a member of Fair Trade Federation.


Beads for Education

BEADS (Beads for Education, Advancement, Development and Success) is a project of the International Women’s Democracy Center and is committed to strengthening women’s leadership in Kenya. It helped start the Dupoto Women’s Group in Kenya and focuses its work on girls education.

Global Girlfriend is a unique fair trade boutique selling specialty hand-made gifts and goods made by women's non-profit programs, women's cooperatives worldwide and products that benefit women's human rights. They have hand selected products that not only fit your unique style but really make a difference! Many women worldwide try desperately to make a living selling their artisan quality handicrafts but find that they have little access to market opportunities. Through fair trade practices Global Girlfriend brings the works of these disadvantaged artisans straight to you!
